Josephine Barbara Tremul Obituary

Grove City, PA - Josephine Barbara (Studer) Tremul, 97, of Grove City, known by her family and friends as "Josie," passed peacefully surrounded with love on Thursday morning, Jan. 15, 2026.

Josie was born on March 19, 1928, in Franklin borough, Cambria County, to Joseph and Dorothy (Klemen) Studer Sr., first generation immigrants from Croatia.

Josie graduated from Franklin High School, Johnstown. She married her high school sweetheart, Dr. Joseph Tremul, also from Franklin borough.

Together, they shared a lifelong partnership rooted in devotion, family, and shared memories. They built a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter, tradition and love.

Josie was a member of the Beloved Disciple Parish, Grove City.

Proud of her Croatian heritage, Josephine spoke the language fluently.

She expressed her love most beautifully through baking, sharing homemade treats, which would become a treasured family tradition that carries on today.

She had an adventurous spirit at heart, embracing new places and experiences throughout her life.

Together with her husband, they traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe, even living in Germany for about five years.

She is survived by her loving children: a son, Jose Tremul, of Leland, N.C., and a daughter, Cecelia Underwood, of Grove City; four grandchildren, Courtney Last (Michael), Wilmington, N.C.; Hunter Armstrong (Kayla), Sandy Lake; Aaron Armstrong, Stoneboro; and Mark Armstrong (Mollie), Cleveland, Texas; six great-grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and love, and pride; and many nieces and nephews.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; and her cherished daughter, Lisa Jo Armstrong, Stoneboro.

Josie will be remembered for her kindness, strength, generosity, and most importantly the deep love she held for her family.

Her legacy lives on in the memories she created and the many lives she touched.

Memorial contributions to The Church of The Beloved Disciple, 1310 S. Center St. Ext., Grove City, PA 16127.
