Chester J. Thompson
Chester J. "Jim" Thompson, Sr. of Plain Grove is now at peace in the arms of his Savior Jesus Christ. He kept a smile on his face and joy in his heart all the days of his life before Jesus welcomed him home on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 12, 2020. He was 81.
Jim was born in Grove City on Dec. 14, 1938, to Thomas A. and Bertha V. (Stewart) Thompson. He married Anna M. Phipps on March 23, 1973.
Jim was affiliated with Plain Grove Presbyterian Church.
He retired in 1999 from Metropolitan Water District of Southern CA where he was employed for 38 years.
Jim was a graduate of Grove City High School in 1955. He attended Pasadena College. Jim enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing and working on crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae at home; four children, Jim Thompson and wife Lori, Grove City, Diane Book and husband Richard, New Castle, Sandy Koontz, Montclair, Calif., and Robert Caldwell and wife Sherry, N.C.; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren.
His parents; a daughter, Deborah Graham; and a brother, Theodore Thompson preceded Jim in death.

I had the pleasure of working with Jim at MWD from 1991 through his retirement. Jim was a great asset to the Survey Team and very helpful to me starting my career at MWD. I am very sorry for your loss.
