Phyllis Ellen Patterson Osborne


Phyllis E. Osborne passed away peacefully at The Lakes of Litchfield, Pawleys Island, S.C., surrounded by her loving family and devoted caregivers. She was 92.
Born in 1926, she was the last of seven children born to her parents Mary Beatty Patterson and Wilbur Patterson of North Liberty, Pa.
She married Harry E. Osborne on Jan. 7, 1949, and they made their home for 62 years in Grove City, until her husband's death in October 2012. Mrs. Osborne then moved to South Carolina to be closer to her family.
A 1947 graduate of Christian H. Buhl Hospital Nursing School, Sharon, Mrs. Osborne devoted her career to serving her patients and their families. She began her nursing career at the Veterans Hospital in Butler, and upon relocation to Grove City, was employed for the majority of her career by Grove City Hospital as a medical/surgical and obstetric RN. She was also employed by Grove Manor in Grove City prior to retirement.
Mrs. Osborne volunteered for the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association and the Grove City Food Pantry and was a member of Tower Presbyterian Church.
She was also an active participant with the original Harvard Nurses' Health Study that began in 1976.
She is survived by her daughter, Dana Osborne Kiser and her husband, Terry of Pawleys Island, S.C.; her grandchildren, Lauren Kiser Meekins and her husband, Blake; Mitchell Osborne Kiser and his wife, Elizabeth Jeter Kiser, all of Columbia, SC along with her three great-grandchildren, Bryce Edward Meekins, Avery Elizabeth Meekins, and Mitchell Allen Kiser. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry in 2012 and their son, Michael Bruce in 1961. She was also preceded by her parents, and siblings Thomas Patterson, Ruth Patterson Carothers, Dorothy Patterson McNeish, Richard Patterson, Jane Patterson Midberry and Mildred Patterson Webster in addition to numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Services for Mrs. Osborne will be announced at a later date and held in Pawleys Island and in Grove City. Her remains will be interred with her husband and son at Crestview Memorial Park in Grove City.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 N Fraser St., Georgetown, SC 29440, or to St. Peter's Lutheran School, 65 Crooked Oak Drive, Pawleys Island, SC 29585.

Dana, when I was a young girl working as an aide at Grove City Hospital I worked with your Mom, she was always patient and kind in helping to train me. I always thought she was so pretty. I'm so sorry for your deepest sympathy.
