Florence E. Filer


Florence E. "Ellanora" Filer, 95, a lifetime resident of the Grove City area, passed peacefully on Sunday morning, Aug. 4, 2019, in Grove Manor following an 8-month illness.
She was born on Sept. 12, 1923, to Walter C. and Nellie M. (Coulson) Batley.
Florence married John William Filer on Sept. 15, 1945; he preceded her in death on May 2, 1991.
Florence was a 1943 graduate of Grove City High School.
She was a member of East Main Presbyterian Church.
She was a homemaker and, during World War II, Florence worked as a machinist at Cooper Bessemer.
Florence enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers and plants.
She is survived by three children, John W. Filer and wife Carol, Grove City, Gary L. Filer and wife Diana, Mercer, and Debra S. Trolinger and husband John, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma Batley Hickok, New Castle.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Marie Allen and Martha Webster; and a brother, Walter Batley.

Visitation: From 10:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday (8-7-19) at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.
Funeral: Noon Wednesday in the funeral home.
Burial:-Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
